If you score below 80%, we recommend completing EMT Prep before you begin your EMT program.
Arcadia students are known for taking their studies seriously, and many plan to start EMT before nursing, medical school, or fire service. A strong start matters to students on those paths. This EMT training prep gives you a structured way to learn the foundations first, so your EMT grades and skills reflect your effort from the first week.
What’s Inside the EMT Prep Course Online in Arcadia California
Emergency medical technician courses move fast, and most of the material rests on three subjects: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Few students start EMT school knowing them. EMT Prep gives you a strong introduction to these areas and more, so you begin your course with a head start. Think of it as an EMT study guide you work through before class starts. This self-paced program includes:
18 Presentation Videos: Visual learning tailored to key EMT concepts.
Interactive Quizzes: Test your knowledge and retention of the material.
Downloadable Resources: PowerPoint slides and PDF documents for in-depth study.
Exclusive "How to Study" Presentation: We all know we need to study but has anyone ever taught you “how” to study? This presentation will help you maximize your study efficiency and effectiveness.

Medical Terminology Is the First Hurdle in EMT School
New EMT students often say the hardest part of the first week isn’t the skills. It’s the vocabulary. Most medical terms are built from a few word parts, and once you know them, you can work out words you’ve never seen. Our EMT medical terminology study guide starts with patterns like these:
Tachy- means fast. Tachycardia is a fast heart rate.
Brady- means slow. Bradycardia is a slow heart rate.
-pnea means breathing. Dyspnea is difficult breathing.
Hypo- means below or low. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar.
EMT Prep teaches these patterns step by step, so new terms make sense instead of feeling like a list to memorize.
Build Your Own EMT Review Sheet as You Learn
One of the best habits you can bring into EMT school is making a review sheet for each topic. EMT Prep is a one-time $99 payment with lifetime access, and each lesson comes with slides and PDF notes, so you can turn them into study sheets that fit on a single page. Write down the terms you’re most likely to forget after each video, and add any quiz question you missed with the answer in your own words. If you’re comparing options, read our guide on whether a prep course or a study book gets you ready faster.
Your Checklist for the Week Before EMT Class
Finishing EMT Prep is a big step. The week before your EMT program starts is when you lock it in. Here’s a simple checklist:
Review your study sheets once a day. Fifteen minutes on terminology keeps it fresh.
Rewatch the lesson you found hardest. Lifetime access means you can go back anytime.
Confirm your CPR certification. Most programs require it before or on the first day.
Set your weekly study times. Plan them around work and family before classes start.
You can enroll in the course here whenever you’re ready to start.

How EMT Certification Works and Where Prep Fits
EMT certification follows the same basic path in most states. EMT Prep sits at the very start, before you enroll.
Build your foundation. Learn the terminology, anatomy and physiology your course depends on. This is where EMT Prep helps.
Complete an approved EMT program. EMT classes combine lectures with hands-on skills training.
Frequently asked questions
1. Is this an EMT preparation course or an EMT program?
It’s a preparation course. It teaches the foundations before you enroll in a state-approved EMT program. It isn’t an EMT program and doesn’t count toward certification.
2. How much medical terminology does the course cover?
Terminology runs through every lesson. You’ll learn common prefixes, suffixes, and root words, plus the terms EMT instructors use for body systems, positions, and directions.
3. Can I download the notes?
Yes. Each lesson includes downloadable PowerPoint slides and PDF study guides that you can print, annotate, or turn into review sheets.
4. Who certifies EMTs in Arcadia?
Arcadia is in Los Angeles County, so EMT certification is issued by the LA County EMS Agency after you complete an approved course and pass the required exams.
5. Is EMT Prep better than an EMT study guide book?
They work differently. A book is good for reference. EMT Prep adds video explanations, quizzes, and a “How to Study” presentation, which many students find easier to follow. Some students use both.
6. I’m planning to apply to nursing or medical school. Is this useful?
Yes. The anatomy, physiology, and terminology lessons support EMT school and the science courses many pre-health students take.
7. How long does the course take?
Most students finish in a few weeks with a few study sessions a week. It’s self-paced, so you set the schedule.
8. Is there a free EMT practice test?
Yes. Our free EMT readiness assessment is a short EMT study test with EMT basic practice test questions. It takes about 10 minutes. If you score below 80%, we recommend completing EMT Prep before your program starts.
9. Can I study on my phone?
Yes. The course works on any phone, tablet, or computer.
10. Will I keep access after I finish?
Yes. Access never expires, so you can come back to any lesson or study guide during your EMT program.
11. Do I need to take the EMT Prep Course?
Not everyone does. If you’re unsure, take our FREE EMT Readiness Assessment. If you score below 80%, we strongly recommend taking EMT Prep before beginning EMT School.
